Unimpeded by city lights and air pollution, ancient humans looked up into the night sky and saw thousands upon thousands of
shining points of light. And they learned over time that the positions of these faraway bodies could herald upcoming events
on the Earth. Times for harvest, times to plant, times for cold weather, times for warm weather. And they studied the bodies and named them, and noted their movements and their groupings: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces. And they saw that some heavenly bodies were clearer and more active than the rest: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, the Sun, the Moon. And from tracking and recording the movements of the heavenly bodies, humans observed that their movements were predictable, and also predicted events that affected people.
